Senior Day

Today we celebrate the four year contribution to the lacrosse program of five seniors:

New Bedford 16

Cassie Benoit scored five goals for the Indians, who also got hat tricks from Shelbie DeMello, Carissa DeMello, Shelby Hickox and Taylor Nisbet in a win over the Whalers in New Bedford.

Heide Palao scored five goals to lead the Whalers, who also got hat tricks from Shelby Friedland, Andrea Nogueira and Aubrie Brault.

Megan Beaulieu chipped in with two goals and two assists for New Bedford, and goalie Alesys Mosquea finished with six saves.

The Indians, who led 13-9 at halftime, improved to 8-8-1 and play at Bishop Stang on Saturday.

Week of May 18th-22nd

Monday May 19th - SPAG at Cassie's after practice

Tues May 20th -Team pictures before the MV home game. Both varisty and JV will need to be at the stadium ASAP.

Wed May 21st- JV has a make-up game against Apponequet. Varsity practice canceled due to the number of student-athletes and coach who are attending Amnesty's trip to DC to petition Congress about women's rights.

Thurs May 22nd- Varsity game only vs Nantucket.

Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Hickox nets four in Dartmouth loss

Falmouth 10, Dartmouth 7

The Dartmouth loss didn't come from a lack of effort from Shelby Hickox. The tri-captain had a hand in five of the Indians goals, scoring four and assisting on another. Hannah Bogen, Riley Marion and Cassie Benoit rounded out the scoring for the Indians (7-8-1), who play at new Bedford on Thursday.

Week of May 11-16th

Monday May 11th - dismissed at 1:40pm, with a 1:50 bus to the middle school. Game is away at Falmouth at 4pm.

Tues May 12th - JV only will play Apponequit at home at 3:30pm. Varsity has practice.

Wed May 13th- practice followed by a SPAG at Rita's House. Directions TBA.

Thurs May 14th - dismissed at 1:45pm for our away game vs New Bedford with a 3:30 start.

Friday May 15th- no practice due to Jr Dance. Please be safe and have a great time!

Sat May 16th- Bus will leave DMS at 12:30 for our away game at Stang. JV will start at 1:30pm and varsity at 3pm.

Bridgewater-Raynham 16

Dartmouth defeated Bridgewater-Raynham thanks to a six-goal performance from Shelby Hickox and a four-goal game from Riley Marion.

Cassie Benoit and Shelby Demello also contributed three goals each while Hannah Bogen added two and Carissa Wills-Demello and Taylor Nisbet each chipped in with one goal.

Dartmouth (6-6-1, 6-3-1) hosts Fairhaven on Saturday.

Girls Lacrosse: Martha's Vineyard overpowers Dartmouth in second half

Dartmouth's girls lacrosse team took a two-goal lead into the half, but Martha's Vineyard scored seven goals in a six-minute span in the second half and went on to win, 15-9.

"Our goalie Katie Zuber really kept us in it the first half," Dartmouth coach Laura Magno said. "She kept is competitive."

Riley Marion had six goals for Dartmouth (4-6-1), and Carissa Wills-DeMello, Shelby Hickox and Taylor Nisbet scored one each.

The Indians play at Bridgewater-Raynham on Thursday and host Fairhaven on Saturday.

Today's practice will end at 4pm in order for the team to support Coach Yeomans at her art show at Umass Dartmouth. Immediately after the art show, Lily Siegal is hosting a SPAG at 5pm. Please see Lily for directions.

Nine from Hickox, Wills-Demello lead Dartmouth lacrosse

Shelby Hickox scored five goals and Carissa Wills-Demello added four more as Dartmouth defeated New Bedford, 16-6.

Hannah Bogen and Riley Marion each added two goals for the Indians (4-4-1, 4-2-1 Maritime), and Shelbie DeMello, Taylor Nesbit and Lily Siegel added one apiece.

"We played well on both sides of the ball," Dartmouth coach Laura Magno said. "New Bedford has some pretty athletic girls, and our defense really shut them down."

Megan Beaulieu, Andrea Nogueira, Shelby Friedland, Emilie Pires and Melissa Medeiros had goals for the Whalers (2-5). Nora Costa and Nogueira had assists, while defensively, Medeiros logged an interception.

Alysses Mosquea made 17 saves in net for the Whalers.

"We're battling injuries right now. We're down a couple of starters," New Bedford coach Seanna McRae said.

Dartmouth hosts Falmouth today, and New Bedford travels to Bourne on Saturday.
