2009 Preview by Standard Times
The girls team also just missed the tournament last season, but that might not be the case this year as the Indians are hitting a groove.
"We have a number of returning starters, and we have seniors who are well-experienced," coach Laura Magno said. "Our three senior captains — Shelby Hickox, Carissa Wills-DeMello and Hannah Bogen — bring our core experience."
Senior Janna Skinner is one of few returning defenseman, and junior Amy Wheaton is also back. Magno said another key is that junior goalie Katie Zuber, who was playing lacrosse for the first time last year, has a full season under her belt.
Junior Taylor Nesbit, a three-sport athlete, should lead a talented pack of newcomers as well.
"A lot of the kids can play offense and defense, and bring a combination of experience and talent along with athleticism and stick skills," Magno said.
